Dalyan Turkey
The resort of Dalyan is situated on a river at the head of a delta which is fed from the nearby mountains. The whole of the Dalyan area was designated a conservation area and nature reserve in 1986 and is now a well established haven for wildlife such as the loggerhead turtles which nest on the nearby Iztuzu beach, and also bird life such as kingfishers and egrets.
The town itself is small quiet and full of Turkish Charm, new building has been kept to a minimum, it has good quality hotels many with there grounds backing on to the river, usually family run and also a number of Villas for private rental.

Pamuk Tarlasi ("Cotton Fields") is a beautiful villa situated in its own grounds, surrounded by a cotton field yet less than 10 minutes walk from the village centre.
Built in the style of the local Mugla architecture (combining stone and render) it also has a feel of the Colonial architecture associated with the cotton plantations. Inside it has a number of unique features including a balcony, with views of mountains and the pools, and an ornate wood ceiling which is typical of local craft-work.
The swimming pool and adjoining paddling pool, as well as the usual patio and sun-beds has a pool-side bar complete with sound system and barbeque
There is a good selection of good value restaurants many looking out over the river to the spectacular rock tombs which date back to 3000 B.C. carved in to the cliffs on the far side.
The best way to see the area is by boat, these are plentiful and the views as they make their way down the river to Iztuzu beach at a leisurely pace are wonderful. Other attractions at Dalyan are the famous mud baths and hot thermal springs, these are said to be so good for the skin that you come out looking ten years younger. Iztuzu beach itself is a beautiful unspoilt expanse of sand there is no building there apart from a small bar which offers light snacks and refreshments. Sunlounger and parasols are also available for rent on the beach.
Most visitors to Dalyan come here for the peace and quiet, the friendly Turkish atmosphere and the beautiful landscape of mountains, lush greenery, cotton fields and orchards full of citrus fruit trees. This truly one of Turkeys beautiful places and is one of the most unspoilt holiday destinations on Turkeys Turquoise Coast.
There is a small amount of building going on in the Dalyan area mainly good quality detached Villas with private pools, property prices are slightly higher here due to restrictions and the scarcity of building land but still represent excellent value for money compared with other European countries.
